The Security team at OpenAI is responsible for protecting our cutting-edge technology, people, and products. We take a technical approach to building security systems but are operational in our execution. As part of OpenAI careers, our team supports all research and products at OpenAI, guided by principles such as prioritizing for impact, enabling researchers, preparing for future transformative technologies, and fostering a strong security culture.
In this role, you will:
- Lead and manage a team of machine learning and software engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to foster professional growth and development.
- Oversee the design, development, training, and deployment of AI models and security projects, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability across all OpenAI positions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, data science, and software engineering, to deliver AI solutions that align with business objectives and the broader goals of OpenAI jobs.
- Ensure that ethical considerations and integrity are at the heart of all security projects and practices.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that promotes creativity, innovation, and continuous improvement, encouraging the professional development of team members as part of OpenAI hiring initiatives.

- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Science, or a related field; a Ph.D. is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role, ideally in OpenAI positions.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, and experience with AI/ML frameworks and tools.
