A Day in the Life as a Manufacturing Engineer
In this exciting role as a Manufacturing Engineer II on the Plymouth Nathan Lane Manufacturing Engineering team, you will be responsible for sustaining and enhancing various production processes. Projects supported in this Medtronic job will range from capacity expansion, equipment end-of-life replacement, yield improvement, technology change implementation, quality improvement, and lean transformation initiatives. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams within and outside the plant, including Quality, Regulatory, R&D, Operations, Technicians, and external vendors/consultants. This role is based in person with minimal travel requirements.

The Medtronic careers opportunity is based at the Plymouth Nathan Lane facility, which supports the Peripheral Vascular Health (PVH) Operating Unit (OU). The PVH OU unites our various peripheral vascular businesses into one cross-functional, collaborative unit, utilizing our full breadth of talent, technologies, products, services, and solutions to address the needs of patients worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvement opportunities within Medtronic jobs.
  • Apply technical skills and tools, such as DOE, SPC, hypothesis testing, capability studies, Gemba walks, and lean manufacturing methodologies to perform in-depth analyses, determine root causes, and identify corrective actions.
  • Identify process improvements, including new fixturing, equipment, and inspection solutions.
  • Create test plans and reports to demonstrate the technical rationale behind decisions.
  • Execute validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ) to implement new fixtures and equipment on existing production lines and challenge existing process specifications.
  • Manage project timelines and scope, and communicate changes and challenges to key stakeholders.
  • Sustain current production through daily support.
  • Understand how to translate top-level design requirements into manufacturing process specifications.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with no experience

Nice to Have

  • Experience in the medical device or regulated industry
  • Experience managing Quality System Process Documents
  • Experience in proper documentation/quality requirements for regulated environments
  • Experience in Process and Equipment Validation and Qualification (IQ, OQ, PQ)
  • Familiarity with automation, vision systems, and PLC processes
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Project management experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Salary ranges for U.S. locations (USD): $79,200.00 – $118,800.00
  • This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
